hi, i’m shayla!
i’m a multidisciplinary creative based out of southern california. i started my career with a foundation in traditional design and print, before moving into in-house brand and marketing roles.
my experience spans visual identity systems, websites, email and sms marketing, content creation, photography, shoot production and styling, campaign ideation, and creative consulting.
i’ve worked across mediums—from film and digital photography to iphone content, and everything in between.
i was born in south africa and immigrated to the u.s. with my family as a toddler. growing up between places and cultures shaped the way i see the world and gave me an early appreciation for texture, people, design, and everyday rituals. some of my favorite memories were built around long trips back to south africa and australia and seeing how differently people create home, community, and beauty.
in 2018, i moved from utah to california and immediately felt rooted here. i have found so much joy in the creative energy in the culture and community here. plus, raising babies near the beach, and in year-round sunshine has always been a dream of mine.
i’m a mother to three children and find delight in creating and documenting a beautiful life alongside them. raising kids has made me both more resilient and more flexible. they’ve taught me to notice more, question more, and to always stay curious. some of my greatest inspiration comes from seeing the world through their eyes.
